Steelworkers across the UK have raised thousand of pounds in aid of MacMillan Cancer support through a series of coffee mornings and fundraising activities

Employees and contractor colleagues across Tata Steel UK have been munching their way through sweet treats to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support by joining in the charity’s annual coffee morning.

Through the last week of September and into October, coffee mornings were hosted around the business from Catnic to Corby and from Llanwern to Lisburn – and everywhere in between – with sweet-toothed colleagues dishing up the cash in return for tasty treats.

The events were also an opportunity to catch up with friends over a cuppa or make new networks with colleagues from different departments.

"We can’t thank employees and contractors enough for their support and kind donations.”

The coffee fest kicked off on 25 September in Port Talbot (raising £385) and Shotton Building Systems (raising £244.40).

26 September saw events in Shotton Colors (raising £240), Distribution Lisburn (raising £160), Corby (raising £373.67), and Llanwern (raising £141).

Llanwern operations teamed up with kind-hearted contractor partners on 27 September to host a raffle alongside a coffee morning (raising a whopping £1,112).

And Catnic in Caerphilly rounded off proceedings with a raffle and a ‘bake off’ on 2 October (raising £420.33).

A spokesperson from MacMillan Cancer Support said: “It is always positive to hear companies such as Tata Steel continuing to get behind these coffee mornings. The funds raised go directly to the support of three million people in the UK living with cancer. We can’t thank employees and contractors enough for their support and kind donations.”

The total raised and donated by kind hearted employees and contracting colleagues for this year’s MacMillan Coffee Morning to £3076.40 (at time of writing).
