A fully certified in-setting scheme verified by leading assurance organisation DNV, the emission reductions you specify will enable you to meet LETI, RIBA and SBTi targets. Similarly, these reductions feed into BREEAM and LEED accreditation.  

A key feature of our Optemis™ journey is the reinvestment of 100% of revenue made from the sale of Optemis™ Carbon Lite declarations into new decarbonisation projects, delivering yet further CO2 emission reductions, which DNV will verify to feed into the scheme.

How we work out the figures… 

  • The calculated CO2 savings are based on Tata Steel UK’s actual performance, not European average figures 
  • Absolute reductions are calculated relative to Tata Steel EPDs produced according to the worldsteel methodology and aligned to ISO standards   
  • Achievable reductions are restricted to those ‘made inside the boundaries of Tata Steel production facilities’, to ensure the CO2 impact of purchased goods such as ores, alloys, coatings and other products are not inadvertently included  
  • By linking reductions to product carbon footprints and not site emissions, the scheme avoids double counting of CO2 emissions
