A team of fundraising steel heroes from Trostre have hit the court again to help one of their own.
Stephanie and Jordan Tate, who both work at the packaging site, had their world turned upside down last year when their son Frazer was diagnosed with a condition meaning he needed extensive chemotherapy.
Despite having a leg amputated as a result of the treatment, he has since returned to school and is enjoying being back with his friends.
Nicola Jones, Market and Business Development Manager, said: “Last year, to support the family, colleagues at Trostre organised a charity netball tournament, in partnership with Llanelli Netball League, which saw teams take the court for a day of fundraising.
“Inspired by the success of that event, Team Tata Steel were invited to take part in a fundraising tournament in April, in aid of the Peony Chemotherapy Unit in Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli.
“A cross-functional team was pulled together, which included Geraint Lodwig, Darran Grace, Richard Jones, Laura Griffiths, Jessica Williams, Megan Rees and myself. A huge thank you to all the players and everyone who supported the event.
“As a result of the 10-hour netball marathon, more than £3,200 was raised – this is on top of the £1,800 we managed to raise last year. The money will help to improve facilities at the chemotherapy unit.”
