This morning (Monday 11 November), Tata Steel's sites across the UK held Remembrance Day services and paused for two minutes’ silence at 11am to remember all those who have fought and served.
Trades unions, contractors and employees came together to pay their respects and lay wreaths. It was an opportunity to pause, reflect and remember all those people who have been – and continue to be – affected by conflicts across the world.
Martin Brunnock, Director of Communication and Public Affairs, said: “Today, we united across faiths, cultures and backgrounds to remember the sacrifice of the Armed Forces community from Britain and the Commonwealth.
“The steel industry has been a vital component of war efforts for all of its history, and continues to be so. Many steelworkers have lost their lives in conflicts, and many colleagues across Tata Steel UK will have relatives who have fought for our country.”
Services were held at Corby, Hartlepool, Llanwern and Port Talbot; two minutes of silence were observed at Catnic and Shapfell; while colleagues in Shotton and Trostre joined a silent Teams meeting to pay their respects.
