Professional support provider, LHH, has been holding workshops and advice sessions at Tata Steel as part of the package of support being offered to employees affected by the company's restructuring plans and transition to low CO2 electric arc furnace steelmaking.
He continued: “As the biggest impact of the restructuring is in Port Talbot, we have focused our activities there, and been present around the different manufacturing units on site. We’ve also been in touch with people in other sites across the UK who have reached out for support. In total we’ve already spoken with around 500 people.
Tata Steel’s Competence Assurance Advisor, Mel Jones, added: “I would really recommend this outplacement support service to anyone whose circumstances are changing – the feedback we’ve had already from employees who have received guidance and support has been overwhelmingly positive.”
The support being offered to employees is in addition to the skills accreditation scheme with Bridgend College, the business support funding from UKSE, and the various funds and schemes available through the work of the Transition Board and Neath Port Talbot Council
