Our Hi-Lite series of thin non-oriented electrical steels opens up a new world of possibilities when designing e-motors
Electrification is one of the most effective options for car manufacturers to reduce their fleets' average CO2-emissions. At the heart of this transition is the need for high performance electric motors.
Hi-Lite helps you achieve harmony between size, weight, energy efficiency and performance. Our thin-gauge electrical steel laminations already handle the highest-recorded rotational speeds.
Already specified within the greenest electrical vehicles, the fastest cars in the F1 circus and in electric turbo chargers, Hi-Lite puts a new spin on innovation and enables green technology.

A new approach to innovative applications
Hi-Lite goes way beyond being merely an ultra-thin electrical steel with maximum magnetic permeability and minimum power loss. It enables compact motor designs and low power losses, at the same time ensuring stability and reliability through its high material strength, and offering the possibility of improved NVH by fast bonding coatings.
Hi-Lite represents a whole new collaborative approach to the development of pioneering applications for low-hysteresis laminated silicon-steel sheets. Choosing Hi-Lite allows engineers to design motors for optimal weight and size or for enhanced performance and EV-range.
Looking for the widest available range of grades?
Hi-Lite is available in the widest range of grades in the market. Our flexible manufacturing assets even make it possible to develop fit-for-purpose NO grades for bespoke e-motor designs with maximal performance.
Delivery options
How would you like your Hi-Lite delivered? We can slit it in anything from 12mm to a full coil of 1150mm width or cut it into sizes from 3500 x 1150mm down to 12 x 12mm. We not only supply steel and provide data on the material – we can also help you find the best supplier of laser cut laminations for prototypes, and supply you with stamped laminations or finished cores using a sub-supplier. From single elements to the design, manufacture and supply of complete components, the choice is yours.
Coating
Hi-Lite grades are normally supplied with either a thin Suralac 7000 coating or a Suralac 9000 bonding coating. Suralac 7000 is a C-5 type inorganic coating which provides good insulation resistance, applying temperature and pressure to a core with good mechanical strength and improved magnetic properties. Uncoated material or other Suralac coatings are also applicable to Hi-Lite grades depending on customer requirements.
Our material experts are on hand to support the deployment of our products in your specific application. For more information contact our Hi-Lite experts.
Are you interested in reducing your total cost of ownership?
Our main focus is finding the solutions that will improve your product. We have a wide variety of versatile thin gauge electrical steel. Using our years of experience in material science and application design, we can help you tap into a new way of working, and the best in materials science, design, tooling and stamping.
Backed by our international network, we’ll help transform your vision into commercial reality – from single elements to complete components.
We can tailor special grades, for example to satisfy particular strength requirements, for individual customers.
Development
Although the basic types of thin-gauge electrical steels are based on established technologies, products and processes continue to be improved to meet users’ increasing demands for enhanced properties and greater cost efficiency. Special grades (to satisfy particular strength requirements, for example) can be tailored for specific customers.
