Tata Steel have today announced their partnership with leading talent solutions provider, LHH, to support employees affected by the company’s transition to low CO2 steelmaking.
LHH – part of the Adecco Group – will support Tata Steel through the process of outplacement, a service designed to support staff affected by redundancy. The programme will give employees access to crucial resources and a support network to help them successfully transition to the next stage of their career.
Chris Jaques, Chief HR Officer, Tata Steel UK said: “The review team was really impressed by the experience and levels of support that LHH can offer, which will be a vital part of the transition process.
“We want to ensure all affected employees are given the support needed to help them through this transition.”
In the coming weeks, the outplacement programme led by LHH will support affected staff through an ‘on the ground’ based approach at Port Talbot steelworks and at other parts of Tata Steel’s UK operations.
Activities will include specific career transition support such as workshops, skills development, one-to-one coaching and practical advice around writing CVs, applying and interviewing for new roles as well as support for those seeking retirement.
This will be made available through:
In-person workshops delivering in-depth discussions about the different layers of support on-hand
Sessions tailored to individual roles and departments, as well as their specific needs and skillsets
One-to-one coaching for specific roles, in which employees will be paired with a dedicated expert to identify desirable roles and provide support through job applications
Informal drop-in sessions allowing staff to ask all manner of questions
Expert advice and resources will also be made available through online portals, enabling staff to access key information, resources and workshops digitally, to complement in-person support provided by LHH.
JC Townend, CEO, LHH said, “We are ready to take on the important role of supporting impacted employees at Tata Steel UK.
“We will have an outstanding team on the ground, getting to know staff on an intimate level, to ensure we can best meet their needs through workshops, skills building and one-to-one coaching support."
“With more than 50 years’ experience successfully helping businesses through transition periods, our goal is to support positive outcomes for staff through our support and by establishing connections to new jobs in the local market, to help people continue their careers with clarity and peace of mind.”
