Shankar Marar appointed as Director Strategic Capex

Shankar Marar, currently Chief of Planning & Budgeting Tata Steel Limited, is to join Tata Steel UK as the Director Strategic Capex. As part of his role Shankar will ensure the delivery and implementation of the £1.25 billion strategic capital development projects, including the proposed new 3.2Mt Electric Arc Furnace.

Shankar joined Tata Steel in 2005 and has a wealth of experience working in Strategy and Projects. He has handled diverse roles as Asst. General Manager Steel Technology (Kalinganagar Projects), Chief Corporate Strategy & Planning India & South East Asia, Managing Director Tayo Rolls Limited, Chief Group Investment Management and, his current position, Chief Planning & Budgeting.

Tata Steel CEO Rajesh Nair said: "I'm sure everyone will join me in wishing Shankar every success in his new position."

After a short period of handover and following completion of his current secondment to Tata Steel UK, Rakesh Ambathsa, Director Capex & Projects will return to Tata Steel Limited to take up a new position.
