Wakefield has had a sporting boost with the construction of its new Minsthorpe Leisure Centre which was opened February 2018, after the 14-month project was completed on schedule.

Facilities at the centre include a 25m, six-lane swimming pool, a 60-station health and fitness club and a group exercise studio.

The challenge

The design needed to be aesthetically pleasing and one which would stand-out as the Leisure Centre is located on a prominent plot and visible from a nearby busy road. The client required a cladding system that was highly durable product and which would not suffer any colour degradation.

The solution

The project cladding design underwent a value engineering programme and the originally specified product was changed to include our Trimapanel® smooth faced insulated panels for the external building envelope.

It was essential that the same four colour combination was achieved and through close working with the cladding installer we were able to successfully achieve this. The Confidex® Guarantee also played a significant part in the selection of the Trimapanel® flat system which was manufactured from Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® pre-finished steel.
