Colorcoat Prisma® was used on this 41,000m2 distribution centre at Marsh Leys in Bedford. Construction of the building, which is known as Godzilla, forms part of a 170,000m2 speculative development programme.
The challenge
Due to the high profile location of the centre, Gazeley Properties wanted a colour solution that would make the structure as visually appealing as possible and offer superior durability and performance.
The solution
Following discussions with Tata Steel, a solution was developed using Colorcoat Prisma®. In all, six Repertoire® complementary colours were specified for the Godzilla building, selected from the RAL Design standard.
The cladding was applied in horizontal bands, graduating from dark to light blue through the elevation. This approach reduces the mass of the large building, and when viewed from a distance, makes the top of the building appear to blend into the skyline.
As well as meeting the demanding colour brief, Colorcoat Prisma® also provides the flexibility of easy handling during construction and the assurance of a technically superior and long-lasting product.
