Eye-catching 100 Bishopsgate tower in London will be the latest addition to the Bishopsgate area. The mixed-use 40-storey commercial development will house commercial offices and residential space.
Close to Liverpool Street Station, the development will provide just over 83,900m2 of net lettable space within its main tower. A 60m long contiguous six-storey podium adjoining the main tower, accommodates large column-free floors. It will be topped by a landscaped roof terrace, providing tenants a large outdoor breakout or entertaining space.
The challenge
The design required a composite flooring solution that enabled long span beams, as well as one that was easy and consistent to install. The project’s unique floor layout alters on plan from a parallelogram at its base to a rectangle at the top, and when complete the development will provide highly efficient column-free accommodation and office space. The London location also posed a problem in that deliveries had to be kept to a minimum to reduce congestion.
The solution
To meet these requirements, ComFlor® provided the perfect solution and 90,000m2 of Building Systems UK (A Tata Steel Enterprise) ComFlor® 51+ composite floor decking was specified for the design.
ComFlor® 51+ was placed onto the top flange of the steel support beam, increasing the composite beam efficiency to achieve long spanning capabilities and provided the best available composite deck fire performance for both slab and beams.
ComFlor® profiles are designed to obtain good load optimisation, allowing up to 1,400m2 of decks per load, ideal for inner city deliveries, reducing congestion in and around sites.
