This award-winning building isn’t just colourful on the outside – inside it’s a fun and vibrant place to live for the young people who call it home.
Designed specifically to provide residential care and activities to young people with Down’s Syndrome, Sedenhuse in Odense, Denmark, allows its residents to be independent and active in an environment built around their needs.
Created by architects Arkitektfirma A/S Hune & Elkjær, it was crucial that the exterior of the house reflected the fun atmosphere that awaits residents inside.
Tata Steel’s Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® pre-finished steel provided the ideal solution, resulting in a rainbow of shades in specially-chosen mood-enhancing colours to give Sedenhuse guests a stimulating and reassuring sensory experience as they arrive.
Fun outside and in – colours make residents happy at Sedenhuse
Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® could also bring to life the architect’s vision of a curving façade thanks to the flexibility of each panel, whilst also meeting developer Odense Municipality Older Handicap Division’s commitment to producing sustainable buildings. Every piece of Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® is produced in the UK to strict environmental standards and is fully recyclable.
Specified in bright and sunny Aztec Yellow, vibrant Poppy red, calming Bamboo beige and warming Chilli red, the carefully selected colours from Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® extensive palette won the project a Colour Award for its unique use of colour throughout the house, both inside and outside, in recognition of the architects consideration of the importance of colour for the young people who enjoy life in Sedenhuse.
Creative colouring for rainbow residential home
The stunning rainbow of shades won’t fade either – Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® has market-leading corrosive resistance and colour gloss retention, backed by a unique 40-year Confidex® guarantee, ensuring Sedenhuse keeps its colourful appeal for future residents.
