Following the recent completion of the 500,000 sq ft Arc Royal Project in Birkenhead, Building Systems UK and Hathaway Contractors donated more than 500 items of food - one item for every 1000 sq ft - to the Wirral Foodbank based just minutes away from the Arc Royal site.
The new development is on land once used by the Cammell Laird shipyard, where the HMS Ark Royal aircraft carrier was built and launched in 1950.
The foodbank donates more than 200,000 tons of food throughout the year, supporting more than 400 people every week across the local area.
Following this, we then introduced Colorcoat HP200®, which brought even more colour choice to customers, as well as an increased 20 years of performance life.
Marketing Communications Project Manager David Luukas, said: "This is exceptional work, from all the volunteers involved, and is a vital source of support for many, particularly over the Christmas period.
"Again, thanks to everyone at the Wirral Foodbank for all their hard work!"
Wirral Foodbank is a local charity providing emergency food to people in the Merseyside area who find themselves in crisis. It has been operating since 2011.
The foodbank principle is based on giving a small amount of food – three days worth – to people who suddenly find themselves without any food or money to buy it; this can be for a range of reasons.
As the key supplier for the ARC Royal project, Building Systems UK, provided a complete building envelope solution. This included Trisobuild® site assembled roof and wall systems featuring a newly developed profile specifically designed for the office areas of the building.
