When designing buildings, the prevention and control of fire is a key consideration. Building Systems UK has welcomed the use of a new addition to the fire protection arsenal that adds an extra layer of fire protection, minimising the risk of the spread of fire, and safeguarding human life and assets.
Hilti CFS-HFF Firestop Rib Filler is a smoke and sound-seal that can be used with Building Systems UK ComFlor® 51+ metal decking to seal the unused rib space of the profile. This offers additional fire resistance and sound absorption. The inserted Rib Filler acts as a firestop barrier when used in applications such as basic and deflection head walls.
Third-party testing
Developed by Hilti, the pre-formed polyurethane foam filler is designed to offer increased fire protection/resistance. Following stringent testing at Warrington Fire UK the Firestop Filler is now fully approved and certified for use within the UK market up to an EI 120 requirement, depending on build type.

Tested under a range of different scenarios, thickness and types of wall coverings, the fire ratings achieved EI (E=integrity: I=insulation) classifications of 30, 60 and 90, as shown below:
Basic Connection
ComFlor® 51+ profile with basic connection to flexible wall. The wall must have a minimum thickness of >144mm and comprise of steel stud lines on both sides with several layers of gypsum board (drywall) of minimum 25mm overall thickness. The wall must be classed in accordance with EN 13501-2.

Deflection Head - A
ComFlor® 51+ profile with basic connection to flexible wall. The wall must have a minimum thickness of >144mm and comprise of steel stud lines on both sides with several layers of gypsum board (drywall) of minimum 25mm overall thickness. The wall must be classed in accordance with EN 13501-2.

System rating for 2 x 75mm Foam Filler - EI 120
Deflection Head - B
ComFlor® 51+ profile with basic connection to flexible wall. The wall must have a minimum thickness of >100mm and comprise of steel stud lines on both sides with one layer of gypsum board (drywall) of minimum 15mm overall thickness. The wall must be classed in accordance with EN 13501-2.
System rating for 100mm Foam Filler - EI 90/E 120
Deflection Head - C
ComFlor® 51+ profile with basic connection to flexible wall. The wall must have a minimum thickness of >75mm and comprise of steel stud lines on both sides with one layer of gypsum board (drywall) of minimum 12.5mm overall thickness. The wall must be classed in accordance with EN 13501-2.

Installation
- Fast and simple to install with minimum preparation
- The Rib Filler can be cut to size on-site at the time the metal decking is laid, or it can easily be fitted retrospectively
