Colorfarm™ has been designed specifically to meet the demands of agricultural buildings including a high resistance to ammonia and fertilisers. It suits any farming purpose, including livestock housing and crop storage and has been tested in contact with a number of chemicals commonly found in agricultural environments. During the tests Colorfarm™ was exposed to vapour, liquid, or paste, depending on the chemical being tested.
When used for a single skin building a double sided option with Colorcoat™ PE 25 external topcoat and Colorfarm™ for the internal is recommend. Single sided can be used for the internal liner of insulated buildings, using built-up or composite panel systems.
Pre-finished steel for building envelopes
Easy to construct, strong, low cost and low maintenance, pre-finished steel is an ideal material for agricultural building envelopes. Manufactured off-site, into long length cladding systems that can cover ridge to eaves in one sheet, it is quick and easy to install, and is flexible in design to allow for extensions.

Tata Steel has 50 years experience in the development and manufacture of pre-finished steel for use within roof and wall cladding systems. This supports the provision of best practice advice for the inspection and maintenance of metal envelopes.
Good inspection and maintenance practice will repay the careful building owner with the best possible performance in terms of appearance, durability and lifespan.

Tata Steel can provide a warranty on a project by project basis for standard roof and wall cladding applications. The factors which influence the warranty period are geographic location, colour choice, the building environment and use and whether the application is roof or wall.

Colorcoat™ Centre for the Building Envelope
Working with one of the largest architectural schools in the UK, Tata Steel has established the Tata Steel Colorcoat™ Centre for the Building Envelope at Oxford Brookes University to support research and innovation in the use of pre-finished steel in the building envelope.
The centre will help Tata Steel provide increased assistance for our customers in developing new cladding systems and conduct research to promote the use of pre-finished steel roof and wall cladding systems in the buildings of the future.
A key area of focus is how the building envelope can contribute to the aims of sustainable development, with work focusing on minimising operational energy as well as life cycle analysis and the development of modern methods of construction. One example of this work is the extensive programme of physical testing which has been carried out on the air-tightness of cladding joints. The Colorcoat™ Centre provides an excellent example of how Tata Steel is working to provide better value for the market.
Development of testing facilities to assess air-tightness
Working in partnership with Oxford Brookes University, it is possible to simulate real life detailing issues and determine the effect on whole building air-tightness. This is invaluable in helping architects and contractors comply with Building regulations. The results of testing have been used to provide more airtight building details, reducing energy-in-use for the client and future-proofing commercial developments from uncertain fuel prices.

When specifying Colorcoat™ pre-finished steel products for the building envelope it is important to consider the specification of material for other elements of the building. Flashings, soffits, louvres, facias, canopies, and corner details should have the same integrity as the pre-finished steel building envelope and the Colorcoat™ product from which they are fabricated.

A first of its kind, the DNA Profiler has been designed to minimise data overload and will allow users, at whatever stage they are in the construction process, to retrieve the exact level of BIM data they require – and in formats including Autodesk Revit, ARCHICAD, Tekla, Allplan and Trimble SketchUp.
COMBINED platform
The COMBINED platform is a new building envelope design and configuration plug-in tool created for professional architects, specifiers, contractors and procurement managers. Using data from the DNA Profiler, the plug-in works directly with the Revit, ArchiCAD, Allplan, SketchUp and AutoCAD platforms, providing an interface through which architectural professionals can independently configure and manage a system build-up from the full range of Tata Steel building envelope products.
