Celebrating Tata Steel's outstanding apprentices

Award

It was a proud moment for apprentices across Tata Steel as they were recognised with this year’s Freddie Roberts Memorial Awards - a celebration of hard work, dedication and achievement.

The awards, named after Freddie Roberts, a senior engineer at Tate & Lyle who championed apprenticeships throughout his life, are presented annually to individuals in mechanical and electrical apprenticeships. 


Each award winner received £100 in recognition of their efforts.


Toni Davies, Technical Training Advisor, said: 

“Freddie Roberts was passionate about supporting apprenticeships, and it’s great that this award continues to recognise the commitment and achievements of today’s apprentices.”


This year, twelve outstanding apprentices from across the business were nominated by their managers and tutors for going above and beyond:

    The group recorded a consolidated turnover of around US$27.7 billion in the financial year ending March 31, 2024.
